Dear all I am feeling a new rifle build coming on and the caliber is going to be .270 Win. I am wanting to use the lighter bullets in it namely the 110 grn Pro Hunter and wondered if anyone is using them at the moment and if so what kind of accuracy are you getting and also what the performance is like on deer? Any info appreciated everyone. Rifle build is re-barrelling a Weatherby MkV Accumark which is currently in .25-06 Thanks JB

I wouldn't do it not because I don't think the Sierra PH can't kill deer, I just don't think you will like the results. Pushing a 110 grain bullet out of a .270 Win can get you to 3400+ fps, and that will turn a standard bullet like the PH into a varmint bullet IMO. If you are going to push a lightweight bullet that hard use the Barnes TTSX 110 grain bullet. Bullets like the 110 grain PH would be best served at speed the 6.8 Remington Special produces. Since you already have the .25-06 why not run the 110 grain Nosler Accubond? What is a .270 Win running a 110 grain bullet going to do that your .25-06 will not?

Taylorce Appreciate what you say. I wouldn't want to push them at 270 speeds nessecarily. The .25-06 is going for several reasons the main one being I can't get it to perform consistently. Literally it will bug hole and then the next group will open to an inch plus! I have grown tired of trying to get it to shoot and the 270 suits the application of usage better than the 25-06 (i.e. greater versatility). Yes the 110 Accu also interested me but because I don't need to send them into hyper drive the PH's would serve me well me thinks. Thanks for the input.

Agree with Taylor. I shoot the ProHunters in 6.8spc AR's. They work great on deer and shoot very well on paper. Much better than the 115gr SMK. The 110gr AB is a great one -- in 6.8 and 25 cal. My go to bullet in my 270WIn is the 140gr ProHunter. I'm truly .5 5 shot groups.

Biscut: At the risk of picking nits, I don't see a 140gr 270 Pro Hunter on Sierra's website. There are HPBT and SBT GameKings in 140gr but no Pro Hunter. do you have a stash of old discontinued bullets, or are the GameKings the ones you use, and if so which one? thanks

olarmy, Please pick away! My error as I meant GameKings. I sometimes get confused between GameKings and ProHunters. According to Sierra the only difference in the 2 is one is FB and the other BT.

I used them loaded to 2800fps or so on east Texas deer and they did pretty good. I only took broadside shots behind the shoulder or neck shots. Some even exited. Leftists are intellectually vacant, but there is no greater pleasure than tormenting the irrational.
