I ordered a hundred rounds of Privi Partizan 8mm Mauser ammo from Ammo to Go after reading on Privi's web site that their 8x57 JS (8mm Mauser) ammo is loaded with a 196 grain bullet to a velocity of 2500 fps. What I didn't notice is that they also load another round they call the 8mm Mauser, and it's loaded with a 196-grain bullet at 2200 fps (about as anemic as American loadings of the 8mm Mauser)!

So, I guess I got the "light" stuff coming when I really wanted the heavier loads. BTW, no one handles the Privi Partizan 8x57 JS domestically. So I guess the only "full-power" loads available here are Sellier and Bellot, Norma and RWS. Of those three, S&B is by far the cheapest, at 18.95 per box on the internet.

I'll chrono my ammo when it gets here, but I'm pretty sure it will be the "light stuff."

Oh well, live and learn! We'll still have fun punching holes in milk cartons and paper, and maybe a fat whitetail doe of two.
