Madgoat, For some reason, Barnes does not use Varget in their data (at least not in my book, it isn't brand new). The Hodgdon manual says a max charge of 46 grains for a 165 grain standard bullet, and a TSX developes less pressure than a standard, so you should be OK. One great thing about Varget is that it fills the case up. I don't think you could get enough in the case to blow a gun up unless maybe you used a drop tube. I use a max charge with Hornady 165s and it is great. You could start with 45 and work up according to pressure if you wanted to. According to Barnes, the TSX will take more powder in many instances because there is less pressure due to a smaller bearing surface on the bullet. Let me know what you find out, as I am going to start loading them again. I haven't shot any Barnes for years, but it is time to get back to the best.

I have slain several deer and feral hogs with Winchester 150 gr. FailSafes. Alas, no more. Mad I bought up a bunch of those 150 gr. moly-coated Nosler Partition Golds when Midway was having a fire sale and intend on loading those.

If you are going to carry a big stick, you've got to whack someone with it at least every once in while.
