Hi, I just bought some boxes of Nosler Accubond 150 gr. for my Ruger .308 win.
Is anyone willing to share with me some good and accurate loads for my next hunting trip? I already have good experience with Nosler Ballistic Tip 150 gr. but thing I can’t use the same loading data for the Accubond. Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

Reloader 15 is what i have been useing. My loads are the same for the accubond as the ballistic tip. They also have the same ogive measurement to the lands of a paticular rifle and my COL is the same.

My load I just worked up for my win .308 and 42.5gr. RL15 was it, did a ladder test to see what my gun liked and this was the sweet spot POI same @100y and checked @200y with in 1".

Brass trimed @ 2.05

My OAL was 2.830 for my rifle. I smoke my OAL to see where I am and back off .30 old way but it works for me and the way I do it. Started @ 41gr and worked to 44gr, settled with 42.5.

My most accurate load in my Rem. 700 .308 W., is the 150 grains Accubond with 46.5 grains of IMR 4064 powder. Federal Match Large Rifle Primers, Win. brass.

1 1/2" groups at 200 (two hundred) yards, from the bench.

If you want to try this one, start at about 44.5 grains and work up.

No way to recommend "the most accurate" for YOUR rifle as all rifles shoot a bit different, as do shooters.

Good luck.

Welcome, and good shooting with a best of style cartridge!

For loading the Accubond and the ballistictip are virtually identical. Loads you already use should be as good or better than the BT loads. My favorites are 45 grains of Varget, 44 grains of IMR 3031, 46 grains of IMR 4064, or 45 grains of IMR 4895. These work in my rifles, try working up with any of these powders in yours.

cheers

You most definatly CAN use the same loading data as for the ballistic tip, as that's what Nosler says to do...

71 grs of IMR-4350, WW Brass, Fed GM 215M and the 225gr took an Elk for me at 515yds Laser measured and witnessed. It shoots 1/2 MOA or so in my Sako M-75. 70-71grs of IMR-4350 has shoot just about any 225gr bullet well in the 8 or 9 different 338 Win Mags I've tried it in.................DJ

DJ, I think he's looking at .308 not 338.

I know you have a pet load for the .308 also, what it is?

My favorite powders for the .308 are RL-15 Varget and IMR-4064, I have owned at least 5 .308s and one or more of these powders should work for you. !

I shot so many 168gr SMK's in Silhouette I can't get myself to load anything but 165gr hunting bullets in my 308's. 46.0grs of Varget and a 165gr Partition in Lapua brass have shot 3/4" 3 shot groups at 200 and even 1 at 300 in my Steyr Scouts. My Kimber 84M SA likes the same 46.0grs of Varget with Moly'd 168gr TSX's (for some reason it shoots Moly'd ones better than non-Moly?????).
I also like 45-46grs of WW-748 with 165-8's because it's a little faster and pours like water through a powder measure - which is handy when loading a bunch for matches etc.
Really with the 308, VV-150, Varget, RL-15 and WW-748 have all worked superbly in different 308's for me and probably a dozen other medium burning powders will work about as well too.
I just Nosler would get busy and start shipping 165gr Accubonds..................DJ

Ingvar, be sure and check your seating depth and adjust it accordingly. My M-75 338 allows me to seat the Accubond out quite a bit which can slightly lower pressure and increase accuracy. Of course also check that they will feed well from the magazine at your length!.............DJ

What are you doing sitting at a reloading bench in Iceland...don't you have an island full of stunning blonde woman with literally no where to go and nothing to do?

Whether your 150-grain Ballistic Tip load will work as well with the Accubond is a question you can only answer by trying it. But basically, the Accubond is exactly the same bullet as the BT, but with its core bonded to the jacket. So theoretically, the two types should shoot exactly the same!

FWIW, if you look in the Nosler Reloading Manual, the loading data they give is for ALL of their bullet types of the same weight; identical starting and maximum loads for all the 150-grain 30's, for example.
