Hello Gents, I've ordered a new double rifle in 8x57IRS. The gun is a Merkel 141E and this gun is availible in chamberings such as 30-06 and 30 R Blaser where the pressure will get up to around 340 MPa. But in factory form 8x57IRS will only be loaded to about 290 MPa. My plan is to load a 196 grain bullet to the same velocity as I would be able to get from a 8x57IS (with 330 MPa) that's between 2500 and 2600 fps. Is there anyone with experience of this practice? Do you think that this should be safe? Best Regards Henrik

Generally speaking, to load up for the rimmed sister cartridge, go up and use max data minus 10 %. I have no idea of the strength of this specific rifle however. At your own peril. C.
