I found a winchester feather wieght XTR in my buddys pawn shop today for 500 with leupold rings and bases. It is nearly new except for some bluing worn off the bolt. But it has a synthetic stock. It is factory but i have never heard of a feather wieght with synthetic stocks. Any insight would be appreciated. Is this a good price?

I would think you could get the highest factory grade wood-stocked XTR in excellent condition for substantially less than 5C. (BTW, a relative has one he keeps as a loaner that shoots plenty well.)

Winchester made some with a McMillan stock (with schnabel) a few years back. Then they made some with tupperware stocks. The McMillan stocks don't have checkering, the tupperware stocks do. If it has the McMillan stock it is a good deal (if you like the caliber). If it is a tupperware stock you can meet or beat that price on a new rifle. JCN

It does have a McMillian stock then, thats a good piece of news. I do like the caliber and I can get him down to 440 so should I go for it?
