divr; sounds strange? not sure about you Qstn First the 338 is a belted magnum head spaces on the belt. second allmost all bottom necks cartrages have a 25 to 30 thsnds. tapper to the sholder, and free bore before the bullet engages the rifleing. bullet weights range from 160grs to 300grs. there are some cartrages that are streight wall but that is another story. The 270 head spaces on the sholder some with long throats and some with short throats. 90gr thru 180gr bullets. 130 being the most popular. They also have the same tapper to the sholder. rifles with short throats, you can seat the bullets to the lands and that will sometimes optomize accuract(not always) you are looking for a sweet spot as far as seating depth. Buy the T3 it will be one of the best rifles you will own. you are comparing apples to oranges when grouping these two cartrages togeather Dave

I've never heard that but would like to read more about what is being said. Could you give a link or cut and paste the post from this forum? Some Euro rounds have different brass than America but I doubt the 338Win. I don't see the purpose in having a tapered chamber unless you want to scare away potential consumers. Hypotheticly, if this were true, you should still be able to load accurately for the T3. You would be better off neck sizing only and leaving the body of your brass fire formed to the chamber. Some people prefere to do this anyways. Go get that T3. No one I've talked to has had anything but success reloading for theirs. I have one on the way myself.

I have a tikka 30-06 and just the opposite is true. There's ton's of room in the clip to hang the bullet out as far as you want. The throat is normal length--no freebore. Regarding feed quality it's fantastic. If I'm checking headspacing I can set an empty case in the clip and close the bolt like butter. I have very few rifles that will do this--most need help getting past the feed ramp. I doubt they "lost ground" when making the t-3. Also the chamber dimensions on my tikka are very exact--cases grow very very little when fired from new on. A very very nice rifle!!!!!!!!!!!
