LGS has one of these on the used rack. Finish on the left side has developed hairline cracks lengthwise on the stock.

Anything to do about the cracks besides refinishing?

Also, what are these things worth? Pretty good shape except for that.

Thanks

Rock, I've had the Remington Custom Shop MS rifles in just about every caliber. They are nice-handling little carbines. They sell on the used market for $1,400-$2,000, although I've picked up a few at $1,200 or so. If you could get it for around $1,000-$1,200, you could just fill the cracks, poly over it, and you'd be good-to-go. The stocks are laminated, so it isn't a strength issue.

If you do get it and hunt with it, you'll soon be looking for other calibers. They are quite the neat little weapon!

Years back I had a mannlicher stock Mod. 7 in 350. A great little rifle. I was at the range one day shooting off the bench with a Harris bipod and about the 2nd or 3rd shot, the recoil pulled the front sling swivel stud right out of the forearm. The mannlicher stock is a bit thin at that point....you have to be careful.

I had a Mod 7 in 350 Rem Mag from the Custom Shop with the Kevlar stock.
I liked the 350 Mag cartridge quite a bit, recoil even in the lightweight Mod 7 was not bad at all.
I let a buddy talk me out of it.
