Here are some pictures of my rifles.
Only three, since we(in Sweden) arent allowed to have more than a total of four guns, without special permission. My fourth gun is a Beretta Silver Pigeon 20 gauge.

Hello Monz,

I am sure those are great looking rifles, but it is hard to see the details due to lack of contrast in the photos. I like your caliber choices, you've got the bases covered!

Thanks, Bill

All nice rifles, thanks for sharing them. It's too bad that you have a four gun limit. However, your fourth choice, the Beretta Silver Pigeon, was a great choice to finish it off, especially going with a 20 ga. It must be a lot of fun to shoot!

Well,
I don't think I'd be able to live there!!
What do you have to do to get "special permission?"

I thought the limit was 6?

Has anyone noticed that the freedom to own guns is inversely proportional to the quality/length of the hunting seasons?

To get a "special permission" you have prove that you need them. There are 4 classes of rifles here in Sweden:1 6,5x55 and above, 2:.222Rem-243 win, 3 .22 Win Mag-.22 Hornet, 4: .22long Rifle. The classes arent really based on the actual caliber, but the Energy level and bullet weight. But you could roughly put it the way I listed.
Since Ive got three class 1 and a shotgun I think it would be very hard for me to get another class 1. The police would probably not think that I NEED another one.
If I would like to buy a .22 Hornet for example, I think that it would be OK, since it has other skills than the class 1:s.
If you are a proffesional hunter, you can get a permission to have more than 6 guns.
Strangley this 6 gun limit is only for hunters. If you are a competition shooter, you are allowed to have as many as you want/need.
That is strange since this 6 gun limit is to keep the total number of guns down.
If we didnt have this stupid unfair law, I would probably have a .280 AI, a .358 Win, another 9,3x62 and probably a Semi auto shotgun with a slugbarrel. But that is just dreams as long as the Socialists rule this country. And they will for at least another 4 years... [Frown]

You forgot to mention your required gun safe. There is also a law I believe, that states if your gun gets stolen you are responsible for letting some scumbag steal it.

Monz, this statement caught my eye. Are you prohibited from having a semi-auto or pump action in Sweden? If not, would having a slug barrel re-classify the weapon as something other than a shotgun? In other words would they count it twice since it has a slug barrel also? Sorry if these questions sound foolish.

Monz,

What does the government count as "a gun" . . . the action or the barrel. If they believe the action to be the gun, I would be looking really hard at purchasing a Blaser R93 (or two) and a whole lotta barrels for it (I think they even make a single shot 20 guage bbl for the R93).

Best Regards,

No, we are allowed to have semi-actions or pumps. I mean that I would add those rifles to the ones I already have. I used to have an 870, but sold it so I could buy a "normal" shotgun. I mean a shotgun with a stock that fits me more than for just slugshooting.
They count the action as one gun. You can have an unlimited number of barrels to each action.
Thats probably wy the Blaser R93 is getting popular around here.
And to get a license you need to have a gun safe, be 18 years or over, have a hunters license and not be registrated in the police crime register.

Monz,
I have 5 rifles ( all bolt actions class 1) and a shotgun.
I also thought that, no way Im getting rifle no5&6.

Just make up a story like You have been offered a safari hunt in the near future, and need a rifle with long range performance , heavier impact yada yadaya.

Of course they do not have to give You the licence but they rather do it, because if You appeal, a court will decide if You should have the licence or not.

Try it, You will not regret it.

All the best

Jens

Monz,

Sounds like an argument for marriage to me. 4+4=8.
Or does it work that way?
