Been hereing bits and pieces about a 338 lapua short that the military is developing. Anyone familiar. true, origins, status, etc.? | ||

First I've heard. Sounds interesting, though. I'd think the only way for it to be of any benefit would be to try to fit it into a 308-size action, and even that sounds a little silly, when we only use the 308 for the SAWR (or is there something else?) And to make a case that's .590" at the base and only 2.1" long or something, and chambering a .338" bullet, to make it feed in full auto might be a trick. Might be able to match the 340 with the light-med bullets. Right now they have the BMG, the Lapua, the 308 (and 300), the 223 and this new 270 round. I'm just not seeing what a short 338 Monster Mag would do for them. But if you see anything informative, I'd love to read about it. Thanks! | |||
