Any followers? I built one on an old Arisaka sporter and find the smaller cartridge to be a fine deer rifle without thew bellow of the 270 Winchester!

PDS, yes it is a 270 Titus, which is 300 Savage necked down to a .277" bullet. It is also known as a 270 Evans.

Or is it a .270 on a slightly more tapered .250 Savage case?

I double checked my source and it is definitely the 300Sav as the parent case for the Titus. The handloaders of the 270Titus are seeing over 2500 ft/sec with a 150 grain bullet, which I think is respectable. I don't think I'll trade my 270Win for one of these though.

I've considered the Titus as well as its slightly larger brother the 270 Redding. Either one would fill the huge void between my 6.8X43 and my 270 Win. I have an old 600 Remington and a SS shilen barrel sitting around if I decide to go that route.

I built a 270/243 on a Savage 99F with a lump in the barrel that I picked up cheap cut it off to 20 inches...Shot good...Sold it to a friend and he has been shooting elk and deer with it for the last 10 years..I liked it, but like the 270 Titas, I would just rather have a 270 win. in a bolt gun or a .308 or .284 in a Savage 99.

Nothing fancy, just a 250/3000 necked up to .270 with no other changes!

The original 270 Savage was a 300 Savage necked up to a 300 Savage case..Same with the .270 titas..Loads for these guns are in Ackleys book..Both excellent cartridges but not very practical in that a 270/308 would be a much better round..
