If you have not already taken a look at Ruger's new version of the 77 check out their web site for this latest offering. Believe they have hit a homerun here for it has all the features that this type of firearm should have in my opinion. Some years ago purchased one of the first Tikka T3 Tacticals in 308 which I have found to be one of the most universal rifles I have ever owned, but it is expensive and not even sure if it is still imported. Ruger's "tactical/practical" Mod.77 is currently priced at roughly 1000.00 and with all the standard features sure looks to be a good value. I'll keep my Tikka T3 for it is scary accurate but will sure try and figure out how to justify this new Ruger.

It looks like a good deal for Ruger. Lets build the rifle cheaper but call it a tactical and people will pay more for it. Henry ford would be proud!

Well, you could say the same thing about Tikka T3's, but they charge some 50% more!! Not complaining about the Tikka T3 for it is an outstanding firearm and rivals or exceeds some of my best built Palma rifles in accuracy terms out to 600yds. Ruger will tap into the so called "tactical" matches that take place and offers a real advantage to attempting to build one. Smart move for Ruger.

Is this what we are talking about?

Or is this the subject of the thread?

Vapodog,
I am shocked that you could not tell which one was the subject of a "beautiful" rifle. I like the idea of a 10 shot magazine, but that does not work very well in prone position if you are trying to keep a low profile and would hope they offer a 5 shot in the future. I would venture Ruger has secured some sort of LE or MIL order for such a rifle or are trying to secure a contract for same. Never found their flash hiders to be that useful, but easy to change out with one that does. From all indications the barrel is a step version and appears as the MIL 98Mauser.

I'm with you vapodog, I thought it was the other one too. Sorry but the other post was much more clear about the subject.

I won't be buying either one, I did my tour yours ago and am no longer a wannabe.
