Dear all

Would be interested to hear feed back from any one who owns one of these rifles. I've just bought one in .25-06 but have never had a Weatherby before.

I have bought it on the net second hand but only done a little work so do not have it in my possession just yet.

Any thing I need to be aware of and also are you happy with yours and how does it shoot etc etc.

Please tell me I've done the right thing

Jon, I've lusted after a Mark V Weatherby my entire life, but it's one of those things I would never buy for myself. This year, my new wife of two years, bought me a .340 Weatherby Fibermark for Christmas. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I'm going to enjoy mine.

I have a 30-378. 1/2" groups @200yrds. One thing I would check is the recriver screws, make sure they are torqued to spec. On mine the trigger is perfect..I i is my favorite rifle

Weatherby rifles are waaay under-rated. I have several and all shoot and handle very well. You did good Jon.

The 25-06 is a good choice for the Accumark. That way you get the benefit of the slimmer action and a great performing round. IMO the larger 9 lug action is too large for cartridges smaller than the 378 and above. Lou

I handled one in .300 Roy when I bought my new Vanguard. I want it. The second the salesman handed it to me to inspect, my dad rolled his eyes at my reaction, he was sure I was going to buy both!

I say you've done the the right thing, just be wary when you buy rings/bases, some of the one-piece items designed to fit the Magnum Mark V will fit the Vanguard actions but not the non-Magnum Mark V (at least from Weatherby).

Just something about these things "feel" right when I shoulder them, they fit me really well.

Great responses and just what I was after.

I have had 4 x .25-06's before (sold the last one I had about 8/9 years ago)and am looking forward to revisiting this cartridge and in what appears to be a quality rifle.

I have been told that the Accumarks are fitted with Kreigers so I am looking forward to load development for my new toy.

I will post a range report as soon as I am able. I think this will be a while but I will let you know.

I have the Weatherby Accumark in the following calibers: 240, 257, 270, 7MM, 300, 340, all Weatherby calibers. Have had the 270, 7MM, 300, and 340 to South Africa two times. ( My wife shoots the 7MM and the 270). All four of the rifles shoot extremely well. These rifles can take a great deal of rough handling, as rifles get bounced around in the back seat of a truck.

It's all certainly opinion but I really like by Accumark. They are heavier which is good since mine is chambered in 338-378 Wby. As big a boomer as this is, and not their most accurate round, I've had no problems shooting right at MOA with factory ammo and just sub MOA with handloads. The handloads were good enough that I haven't tried to tweak them yet. I imagine I will someday. The triggers are adjustable and pretty good to start with. The action screws tend to be more of an issue with the boomers but just a quick check to make sure they're properly snug wouldn't hurt.

All I can say is I simply love shooting this rifle and in my opinion you chose well.

I have a Weatherby Accumark in .338-378 Weatherby Magnum:



I topped it with a Leupold Vari-X III in Leupold rings and bases. The gun has been a very consistant performer, and the Accubrake reduces the recoil to about that of my unbraked Remington 700 in .300 Win. Mag. It prints the best with the Sierra 300 Grain Matchking and a very healthy dose of WC-872 Powder under a Federal 215 Magnum Primer. Bill T.

My .378-.338 Accumark was not accurate and had a terrible trigger. I had the barrel replaced with a 28-inch Shilen with a chamber without the freebore or muzzle break, and had the action and first 2 inches of the barrel fiberglass bedded, and replaced the trigger with a Canjar single-set trigger. After that, accuracy was very good.

I couldn't be happier with the out of the box accuracy my Accumark has delivered. These groups were some of the first I fired with it, and are from several years back when I first purchased it. Since then it has been delivering even better groups after going to the 300 Grain Sierra Matchking and WC-872 Powder. I think the triggers on Weatherby factory rifles are some of the best out there. About the only ones better are the Savage Accutriggers. Bill T.

I have the Mark V Wby in 257 with a synthetic stock. It looks real sharp.

I've had two. They're nice rifles. Maybe a tad on the heavy side, but those who appreciate the strength of the Mark V don't mind. The 25-06 is a darling too, so you're in high cotton!

I have shot a .257 Wby in the Accumark rifle for several years now. It will put 115 or 120 grain Nosler Partitions, or 100 grain Barnes TSX in a nice neat hole. I mounted a 6 X 24 Burris Signature on it and have no complaints whatsoever. Good shooting.
