DJ I would imagine comparing them is like trying to pick fly shit out of pepper! Both good rounds. I picked the 300 because I have a feeling it is more likely to survive and here in Australia factory ammo is more common for the 300.

Of course dj is really covered on what one will survive as he has them all! The 7mm WSM case is a little longer in body length by about .035" on the other hand larger bores produce more energy with the same capacity and pressure. This usually overcomes the ballistic properties of the bullet diameters as modern sharp meplats count more than other factors. I don't think bullet diameters are equal in effect when they strike either. I would favor the larger diameter as it will expand easier to a larger diameter given that it's other features are adequate. The WSM's are still heavily distributed. In the local Walmart there were three of them of the five centerfire rifles!

I really like the 7WSM ...great accuracy for plain factory loads and they chrono extremely close to published factory claims. Federals lineup in this caliber is great to say the least. I can 't wait to handload this thing.
