I need a new gun safe. I can fit most of my conventional long guns in my current safe.

I need this new one to hold handguns and takedown long guns that could be stored flat in roll out shelves or drawers if the inside drawer width is at least 31”.

I want the simplicity and reliability of a mechanical lock.

What is the best and best value in such a safe? I would need it delivered to East Texas, in case shipping makes a difference between two close contenders.

Take a look at Sturdy Safe.

www.sturdysafe.com

They have a lot of good info on their site.
They are a very good company to deal with.

Take a look at Patroit Safes. They have the best fire rating I could find of any safe. The one I bought had very reasonable shipping right to my front door, and I live way out in the sticks.

Positioning & fixing of a safe makes a BIG difference to security: If it is installed with heavy duty fastenings inside a narrow closet then pry bars can't get the kind of swing needed to unlatch the door.
