Is there a TIKKA or Sako forum that goes into great detail on the rifles ? "Make yourselves sheep and the wolves will eat you" G. ned ludd

Specifically or exclusively Tikka ?. Not that I'm aware of personally . Do you have a particular question pertaining too a specific model or problem with one ?. I have #3 and ALL shoot very well for stock out of the box Rifles sub MOA with hand loads as I don't buy factory ammo any longer , can't comment on that .

I was intrested in finding whether the plastic magazine boxes for the T-3s can be disassembled. I have instructions for removing the follower and spring. The box itself does not appear to be glued together from pieces. "Make yourselves sheep and the wolves will eat you" G. ned ludd

does it need to be disassembled? It appears to be injection moulded plastic, so I doubt it can be. Seems to me if the follower and spring come out, that is all that is needed for cleaning, correct? I just bought a T3 myself, so I am interested as well

Tikka says DO NOT take the floor plate off the mag. I do not know if the body and floorplate are bonded, glued or what but the exposed pins on the floorplate look mighty small to suffer much abuse. I have 3 Tikka short action mags and I have found that even taking the follower and spring out for cleaning can present problems. If I don't put the spring back just right in my 5 rounders, the mag will only take 3 shells. Thus, I am not inclined to jack with them any more than I have to. Besides at 60 bucks a pop, who can afford to experiment? Unless you have big load of crud under the follower, the best cleaning method is probably to simply depress the follower and wipe them out with a dry patch (no oil) or some compressed air. Hi again. Got a citation for that "Tika says..."? I've looked in the factory pdf and didn't see such a statement. Actually the mag bottom is not glued, it wiggles and you can see the two plastic pins molded in with beveled tips in the direction you would use to press the body and base to snap together. It appears that the magazine is really a partial double stack from looking at the offset of the cartridges. It sure would be nice to up the capacity to 10 + 1 for varmints "Make yourselves sheep and the wolves will eat you" G. ned ludd

probably simpler just to buy another 5 rounder. If you ruin the first one, it will cost you the same amount anyhow...then you will still only have one five rounder.

PDF Page 15 of Tikka Manual- Magazine Disassembly and Reassembly "2.Pull out the follower and spring from the magazine box (Fig. 8). Do not detach the magazine floorplate." If you want to experiment, you could hack off the feed lips of one and yank the floorplate off another. How you marry them up will be a WECSOG original for sure. Depending on what cartridge you are shooting, you are going to have to have to account for case taper if it is not a straight wall cartridge. That means the lower portion of the mag will have to have some angle to it when you attach it to the upper portion so the rounds don't nose dive before they hit the chamber. Then locate some flat spring stock and bend you a new spring. Whether or not you get 10 rounds will depend on how you cut the mags. Not sure if you are using a bipod from the prone or a bench with a rest for varmints but do take into account that a longer mag may force you to raise up a bit higher. Chet

Thanks for the citation.I saw the little bevel headed "pins" or whatever and my 223 box not glued to the bottom and surmised those pins were depressed then the parts snapped together. I think that note means a route to examination. "Make yourselves sheep and the wolves will eat you" G. ned ludd
