My 11GL in 7-08 is roughly 2.900. I didn't pull the stock to get an accurate measurement for you. The throat on my rifle is cut plenty short, so I don't have to worry about running out of magazine before I get the bullet just off the lands. I put a Savage Sharp Shooter stock and trigger in mine. It is my favorite and most accurate hunting rifle. It's ugly but boy does it shoot! If you're interested, email me at mchapmanreedley@aol.com and I'll give you more load development/accuracy info. on it.

Thanks thats the info I needed.I have a SAvage Model 116 in 338 and due to magazine length I have to load .075 off the lands with the new Nosler Accubonds. I'm just kinda flirtin with the 7mm08 idea and am kinda thinkin cheap and ugly is better than expensive and pretty especially since the Savage will probably be more accurate anyway.
rws2, if you're thinking of Savage, take a good look at their Sierra model if you want a 7mm-08. I have one since that model came out. It's accurate, tougher than nails, and it's light and handy. One of the best rifles I ever bought.

Savage, I had a Sierra in 30-06 and it shot pretty good too. I think I'll go with model 11FNS or 16.Probably the 11 cause I want that little bit extra velocity that the 22"bbl offers.
