A friend of mine bougth a rifle exactly like yours a few years back. I made a new stock for the rifle after one seson of hunting. The new straight classic style stock made the gun a lot more plesant to shoot. If you replace the original stock with the beutiful one on the pictures I would defenetly try to get at new floorplate in steel instead of the alloy that probably is fitted to the gun at the moment! Another thing you should consider is to remove the ugly and "hard to operate" bolt stop when fitting a new stock. If you just remove the piece of bent sheetmetal that shows on the lefthand side on the action and leave the internal stop and ejector in place the stock will look a lot better. The boltstop can be worked from the ejector port with a finger.

The prices on loaded ammo is making the hair stand in my neck! We load cheap ammo for my friends rifle with 180 gr. Nosler .357 handgun silouette bullets and N-150 powder. The handgun bullets cost about 1 SEK a piece and shoots great. My friend uses them for the running moose practise. The handloaded 358 NM rounds is far cheaper than the off the shelf training ammo for the 6,5X55!!

We use Woodleigh 250 gr softpoints for the moose and they work perfect!

Good luck with your new toy!

Bill.

German mounts for kombination and doubbles guns looks like these mounts. They are qick detatcable and the forward mount is placed around the objective bell on the scope.

Here is a picture of a rifle with this mount.

Unfortunately the rifles are not mine.

Most master gunsmiths in Germany and Austria use the Einhack mount from Suhl.

Thank you for the tip about the boltstop.
I am i the process of refinishing the original stock with gunstock oil.
I might sell the rifle and use the money for my 8x68s project. I might keep the rifle for kicks
I have many projects and only limited founds.
It all comes down to Ginger or Mary-Ann

Cheers,
