Killed my 15th bear with my .358 win.
Got back from Manitoba last week and kiled my 15th bear with my BLR.358 loaded 43.5 grns of AA2015br behind a .250 hornady. Shot through broke a shoulder and leg found bullet in leg. I normally use speer .250's and was hestant about the hornady but it did a great job. Bear went about 6 feet ! Typical .358 win performance on bear.It was a small bear 306 lbs but I shot much larger ones with the same performance.

N E 450 No2Way to go. In the quest for speed most hunters do not realize just how good the "medium" bore rifles really are.
I am a big fan of the 300 Magnums for shots over 200 yards....But I much prefer a "medium" if shots are 200 yards or under. And the more "under they are the better I like it.
And I like my medium in a double rifle thank you.

Shumba.358,
Do you use a scope on your .358 BLR or do you stick with iron sights?

waksupiI thought you had been trying to sell that old rifle! Why mess with success? I just got mine finished, and am loving it.

Hot CoreHey Crock, Congratulations on the Bear. I thought you were totally out of that powder. I'm still watching the Gun Shows for some and if I find it, I'll get it for you.
Congratulations again!
I had two blr's in .358 and sold one to a fellow in Wyoming. and yes I only have a 1/2 lb of AA2015br left just enough for another hunt. Please keep looking I need some of the stuff. Thanks, Carl

Cal SibleyWell, if anyone out there is wondering if the .358Win. is a good bear cartridge you've
pretty well answered the question. Best wishes.

500grainsI have had a hard time getting 250 grain Hornadys or Speers to open up out of my .358 win. Finally I settled on the 225 Woodleigh which opens up nicely for me.
...just my personal experience.
