I understand a special permit is now required to export spears from the USA. From the Department of Defence or something. Not sure if the DoD is the right one. Anyone who can fill me in? Thanks.

Unbeleievable if so NitroX. I have pulled in quite a few swords and other bladeware over the years. Would be interested to see if they are under permit now too. A domestic option may be craig sitch in Victoria. www.manningimperial.com A lot of these medieval arms makers are full of shit, but apparently Craig is the real deal with the hardened steel etc and can make whatever you can draw. Karl I had a broker organising an export permit for a firearm. At a certain point they had my firearms permit and I think put the spears on the same application and were told that an export or approval was required from a different body. So told them to just do the rifle. Will have to look for the original email as they mentioned the organisation or department but not any form references. Unbelievably you also now require a customs permit to import spears, swords etc into Australia. Which I found out from the cops in Adelaide. Far different from when I used to fly into Adelaide with five Burmese and Thai swords and long knives in my suitcase and the customs guys would gather to have a look mainly only out of interest. These governments are fucking off their tree with these regulations and 'approvals'. What do they think, people are going to revolt and march in the streets armed with swords and spears! The general domestication, pussification, and dumming down of the populace by the nanny state and its evil masters. PS Thanks for the link

Well, if the police is armed with assault rifles and the civilian population is forbidden guns of any kind, then all we'll have is swords. (And feed stores / drugstores of course ) ====================================== Cleachdadh mi fo m' féileadh dé tha an m' osan.

No luck so far figuring this one out. If I get a chance I'll ask one of our folks at work who used to do some of our export control work. You might ask these guys as they sell guns and edged weapons and export: Collectible Firearms and Edged Weapons I did see a reference to the Australian import issue -- apparently if it has two sharpened edges it is treated as a "dagger" -- no doubt much more dangerous than a knife. Funny Cold Steel's catalog says they ship worldwide and no mention of US export issues, just that it is the buyer's job to know his end and Cold Steel is not responsible for customs problems.

I looked into this a bit more today. There are at least two sets of restrictions in the US which might apply. The Commerce Department has a set of restrictions which includes, among other things, bayonets. Any chance someone thought a spear head was too much like a bayonet? The Department of Defense has a set of regulations restricting, among other things, close combat weapons. No specific mention of spears, but parts such as bayonets could conceivably be involved again. Have you asked Cold Steel if they will ship them? Is the problem that on the import side you are told that a permit is required on the export side? It seems that getting someone to go through the permit/license process for one sale would be difficult. If you get a better idea which regulations are involved and who issues the licences I could look for more information. I could call Cold Steel for you if you like, assuming they are not responsive to emails. Good luck.

NitroX, The sneaky cunts must have moved fast on that one as I had swords come in, in 2002. Its not the denying of weapons that's the point, but the pussification as you say. If goverments create a heap of paperwork it puts people off having weapons. If they do this in every area of our lives OH&S, equity, workplace regulations, owning a big dog, building your own house whatever. It puts people of having rights. Karl.

Karl How many people do you talk to who automatically assume something "is not allowed". But really have no idea. They automatically assume the gov't has the right to ban something. Modern man has become a flock of sheeple. Ready and willing to be controlled by any wolves that have the guts to do so. *** The firearms branch of the SA branch told me I needed customs approval / permit to bring in the spears. This time no swords. It didn't sound like there would be a problem. The cop even offered to help if any problems. Got to get them out of the USA first though and that probably is just another form as well.

[QUOTE]Modern man has become a flock of sheeple. Ready and willing to be controlled by any wolves that have the guts to do so.[QUOTE] NitroX, That's actually the good news if you consider yourself a wolf too Its when the top wolf tells the sheep they are equal to lesser wolves we have a problem. Because he has rid himself then of the middleclass. Anyway ,good luck with getting the spears etc in. Karl.
