Has anyone done any freshwater spearfishinh in Texas? I am going to visit family in Dallas and need some locations. I realize I will probably have to go farther South.

I didn't go up there to die, I went up there to live.

Sorry for the late post. Just havn't been paying attention. You can spearfish the dam at Possum Kingdom. Tons and Tons of carp and Buffalo there. I will warn you - be mindful of the wire crossing the river that keeps you away from the base of the dam. After 9/11 my friend was ticketed by Brazos River Auth for swimming under the line. You know being the terrorist he is.....

The West Fork and Elm Fork of the Trinity River in the DFW area offer some interesting locations for gar and carp.
The access is challenging at times and kayak or canoe are the only way to approach some locations. I never go in the height of chigger season
(called red buggs by the locals).
