I was wathcing a show last night called "I caveman" it's a group of men and women who have been put into the bush with only primitive equipment.

They were having a tough time getting food until "Atlatl Bob" showed up with a handful of atlatls and darts. He showed them how to use the weapons and right before the end of this segment it appears that they actually killed an elk! I can't wait until next week to see what happened.

It's a bunch of city people. Kind of what the surviror series should have been without the political crap. There was a trainer who showed them how to make fire by friction (hand drill not bow drill) and they were told of the importance of boiling water. They have only stone age supplies, so boil the water in a hide with hot rocks. They caught some trout by hand and seemed to have a pretty good feed! I'm waiting to see how the atlatl kill went down. The elk looked like farm elk to me as they weren't too wild but then it's balanced with the fact that the people aren't very good hunters.

Well I watched it again this week and they did indeed get an elk with stone tipped atlatl. The rest of the hers was in the back ground a hundred yards away while they were dressing it so I guess they were ranch elk. Still a neat shot from about 30 yards or so.

The bowhunter guy is Billy Berger of Primitive Pathways. He is a stone age skills enthusiast. I talked to him recently and he got a double lung on a squirrel with a stone tip, and he got it all on tape. It will be on his next video.

A while back he got a rabbit at 40 yards with stone age bow and arrow.
