Can anyone tell me where to find good satellital pics to be used with my gps (oziexplorer)?

either to buy or just to download, preferably georeferenced ... scale as low as possible, looking mainly for Africa and South America

Thank you all in advance

I can't answer your question. It seems though that the most available sattelite pics are for the contigous US as you get further north in Canada the maps become less available. I assume it's the same for other parts of the world.

If you join this list-serve I'm sure you'll get a satisfactory answer there.

To join by email, send an email to listserv@listes.ulaval.ca. The "subject" field should be empty. In the first line of the mail just put: SUBSCRIBE APPLIED-GIS-RS Your Name. Delete all the rest of the mail body.

Your email should not include any html characters. For Hotmail users, it is recommended that you put END at the second line of the body text.

Have you tried downloading Google Earth? Not only do you get excellent satellite pics, but you also rotate and pan the image so you can view it in 3-D.

I've been using it a lot lately planning my elk hunt this fall.
