Has anyone used the Petzl Tikka XP? If so what do you think of it for use and battery life. I've used the regular Tikka for a long time but I dropped and cracked it so am looking for a replacement.

If not the XP, is there a compact LED lamp you'd recomend? Thanks.

Don´t waste money on a Petzl. I had two of them.

The much better choice is a Black Diamond!!!
ave a look a the Vectra IQ, the Icon or if You could find, the old modell, which is not longer on the market: The Supernova, which was the best ever! But take the only the Supernova with 1 LED, the edition with 2 LED´s had often problems with broken cables...

I bought one of those Pricess Auto specials. six LED's and a central Halogen. Seems to get the job done and I can save power by chosing my level of illumination. the wife used one for doing chores all last winter and she went through 3 sets of batteries.

I've been using the TIKKA® PLUS for a few years now and highly recommend it.

It uses 3 AAA batteries, is lightweight and seems not to be too taxing on the batteries. You can slip it into your pocket and forget about it until you need to use it. Great piece if gear, particularly when you're back packing. Jim

check out the petzl e+lite. It's a new product so I can't comment on durability but it is extremely lightweight compact, very bright, and more comfortable to wear than the tikka. Only downside is that it takes CR2032 batteries vs. AAA.

I am very happy with mine and have been giving them to friends and family for birthday presents, Father's Day, etc.

I like the Tac Tikka.

I do carry one of the new e+ lite's in my pocket for emergencies.

I like the Princeton TEC Aurora. I've had one for a couple of years and carry it with me whenever I'm on the trail. It's on sale now at REI.
