I have wide feet, so boot choices are limited for me. What experience have you had with the Danner Mountain Assault. I also looked at the Kennetrek Mountain Extreme 400, but the Danners are almost $200 cheaper.

Can't comment on the Danner's, but my wide feet fit in Crispi's really well.

What are you hunting and where? Danner is usually a 4 letter word in mountain hunting. They use to make solid boots and then got bought out. I'm not saying don't get them. I am however saying that they aren't appropriate for every type of hunting.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Much higher quality all "all around" boots would be the Lowa Hunters or the Kennetrek Mountain Extremes. For mountain hunting I like a plastic boot or leather with a full shank.
