I'm trying these out in my workboots.
So far so good, so the next set go in my hunting boots!

I am wearing three layers of inserts right now.
It makes me taller and unstable, but it gives me more stand up time.

My heart, lungs, leg muscles, knees, and ankles are great from mountain biking every day.

But my feet were injured on an elk hunt.
The insteps are ok, it is the front and rear have spots where the cartilage wore through, and the bone touches the skin.

Now I can walk, stand, or climb for 2 hours a day.

I take my bike hunting in case the 4WD gets stuck.

SOLE Inserts! Yessir, I do have a set in my Danner Sharptails and love them.

I've also used Superfeet - not bad, but the SOLE's are heat moldeable and much better fitting.

For me, I have very high arches. High enough that as a kid I'd get blisters within two hours of a hike. I'd go backbacking for a week and pretty much lose both pads (heel and forefoot) completely. Nasty, nasty, nasty, nasty.

All I can say is that had I known that my blister problems could have been cured for $40...you get the idea.

Anyway, with the SOLE inserts properly heat molded (stick 'em in the oven at 200 degrees for 2 minutes, then stuff into boot, put the boot on, and stand still for a couple minutes) I can hump all day in the California desert hunting chukar without pain. I'm talking 15+ mile days.

The SOLE's are priceless to me. I'm a believer.

Regards,

Robert

Ditto on the SOLEs I have 4 pairs that I can rotate through almost every pair of boots or shoes I own. I've got long arches and these custom moldable gems are the only way to go! I used to get Superfeet because I got them free or really cheap when I worked at REI. Then I bought a pair of SOLEs. THen I got a pair free. By then I was addicted, and the rest is history

OH! and one more thing, when you trim insoles to match the factory ones, hold the inside (big toe side) to match the edge and cut off the outside edge. If you don't the arch of the insole might become misaligned in relation to the boot and/or your foot.

How do these compare to SOFSOLE? I just switched to these from spenco. I had faith in the Spenco hiking insole until I bought these and tried them for a week working then a weekend hunting. I will switch to these in all of my boots now, they are heat moldable like the Sole insert. I may have to try a pair and compare them side by side.

Are these insoles fairly rigid?

The reason I ask is because the ones I got with my Asolos constantly slip back in the boot, curling up behind my heel. This leaves most of my toes "hanging" over the front of the insole...pretty uncomfortable.

RG, you cut them to the size you need. So, if you cut them right they can't slip around. IF your Asolo's move a bit, then cut the Sole's big and trim down from there until you get an exact fit...

Interesting! There are so many brands of insole out there today, sometimes it's hard to keep track. I've been looking for a brand of insole I can use in hunting boots for some extra support and I see they have the options that might fit the bill.

I'm a huge fan of using cork for an insole. It might not last the longest (still pretty damn long), but having something naturally conform to your foot over time is the best support out there. Oddly enough, my fancy work dress shoes all use cork for their insoles, and they're incredibly comfortable.

I have a pair of old, Canadian-made Sorel pac boots that are utterly without any kind of support and miserable to walk in. I keep them for the bitter cold days when other boots simply won't keep my feet warm. I might try a pair of their super thick insoles to see if it improves the support situation.

The price is right on these, too. It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth to spend between $300-500 on a pair of boots only to have to shell out another hundo for "quality" insoles. $50 is pretty unobjectionable.

I've been fighting a case of plantar fasciitis on my left foot. It's been hell. I just ordered some of the Sole inserts.

The Sole inserts were terrible and didn't seem to help at all.

I went to see an orthopedic guy and he sold me some Powerstep ProTech full length inserts. Bingo! Just what I needed, and they can be bought on-line for about $40-50.

I've put them in my Lowa Renegades and my work boots. What a difference.

I use the customizable inserts sold at RedWing Boot Stores. Put them into the oven then into your shoes and then stand in them. They mold to your foot. Been using them for 10 years

I experienced a crushed foot injury about 5 years ago and had a hell of a time walking. I went to a good orthopaedic man and he made custom orthopaedic inserts that made a big difference for me.

I also have flat feet and pronation so I was getting pretty lame but I am now good-to-go again. It's wonderful what good insert can do for us. Also I now use Lowa walking shoes as recommended by my orthopaedic man, for my cape buffalo hunting. ( I just turned 79.) Brian
