I do not hunt in order to kill, but kill in order that I have hunted.

We hunt sheep off Youguessit Creek off Noname River up in the Brooks Range. Sorry, couldn't resist - the devil made me do it. Beautiful country, BTW.
Bear in Fairbanks

Unless you're the lead dog, the scenery never changes.

I never thought that I'd live to see a President worse than Jimmy Carter. Well, I have.

I did a ten day Dall's sheep backpack hunt in the MacKenzie's in the Northwest Territories of Canada. I was as close to heaven as you'll get on earth. Gorgeous country.

primitive style, back packed over most of Idaho since 1978. Before I found out a Hawken rifle was too heavy to pack and 1820's era pack gear was also too heavy and wool was bad for you.

The wife and I backpacked, bear and grouse hunted, for ten years straight in NW Montana around the Troy to Eureka area.

We had a great time every year, even in the bad weather years.

Idaho Sharpshooter, I must disagree with you on the Wool.

My favorite pants are the Filson Worsted wool pants, my favorite shirt is the Sir Pendeleton.

In really cold conditions I use thicker Filson pants and thicker Pendleton shirts.

On several Colorado elk hunts I wore my Filson Packer coat.

I was living in a tent, in cold wet snow conditions. Whether in high exerction or static hunting conditions it never let me down.

A medium weight Wool sweater is worth its weight in gold.

I would pack some wool "stuff" if I was going to the surface of the Sun.

PS in Texas, for over 30 years, my work "Uniform" contained a lot of wool.

Thin wool "garments" work in any temperature.
Layer up as it gets colder.

Take 3 shirts of the same thickness.

One of Cotton, one of polyester, and one of Wool.

The cotton shirt, great for everyday wear in warm climates,If it is really hot it soaks up your sweat, and will feel like a "wet rag" on your body, and if it gets wet at 45 degrees,or below you will probably die...

The Polyester shirt is too HOT to wear above 60 degrees, If colder, it does good if wet, but is not as warm as wool.

The wool shirt. It absorbs sweat great and wickes it away. If It gets soaked, it is still warm to the body. Body heat will dry it out in a real short time.

Wool is a very unique fabric.
