I have narrowed my choise down to these boots, so I wondering if any of you have any experience or comments on either or both boots.

They have similar qualities that I am looking for, look similar, priced similar, and both are made in Italy...maybe by the same Bootmaker??

Are you talking about insulated or non-insulated?
I just ordered both the Kenetrek Hardscrabble and Mtn Extreme in non-insul to see which one fit better. I ended up keeping the Hardscrabble due to its lower height and better fit, even though they are exactly the same boot, except for the height.
So far they seem bullet proof. Leaving today for three weeks in Alaska so I'll let you know how they do.

Loved, absolutely loved the Hardscrabbles!!!

It rained a lot and my feet were never wet except when I crossed a deep stream, which soaked by socks on both feet.
Rained all of that night and most of the next day, but by morning my boots were dry enough to wear without feeling wet.

I plan to order the insulated mountain extremes.
Very happy!

I have a pair of Kenetrek Mountain Extremes and now have just over 25 hiking miles. They are not quite broken in yet but getting close. They are very comfortable and I've not had a problem with blisters or even a hot spot while breaking them in. I've heard the Crispi's are good boots as well.

Do you guys find it tough to have repeatable performance in leather boots?

I have not yet had a single pair of leather hunting boots give me a repeatable fit the way rubber boots do.

I remember seeing something about having your feet cast, and using the custom mold to build your boots, but I don't remember if this was still possible.

Were Limmers like that, or was it just custom insoles?

I have been wearing black military style hiking boots for almost 20 years in the military. Until recently the only rule was that they had to be black. Now they changed it to just one model, and the models they picked are shit Bates boots.

We used to wear Hanwags, Danners, Meindls, Red Wings, all kinds of stuff. Had good luck, but rarely was I backpacking 20 miles in my boots.

I hate how you buy one pair of boots, and then replace them and they don't fit the same.

No one can recommend a pair of boots for another person. Out of several high quality boots pick the one that fits your feet the best.

You can recommend a brand based on its performance, durability, perceived comfort, and whether it is waterproof or not. But, Calgarychef1 is right. You've got to find boots that best fit your feet.
