Hi All,

I have seen in Sixgunner.com forum a post from a guy very informed on the subject.

"According to Roy Jinks, the basic M500 will retail at $987.00 and will start shipping to Dealers in March, 2003. There is also a Performance Center variation of this beast planned for later this year...can't wait to see the price tag on that puppy!
Roadking"

What do you think about these $987 for this gun?
Too much? - reasonable? - bargain?

If we customize it to the Performance Center that could cost as much as for a FA Field Grade ($1500).

Of course we don't know the right selling price but if this gun is really reliable and accurate is reasonable for me. My first job by performance Center is to put an unfluted cylinder and a good action job. If they can. [Smile]

I have seen all US's friends will be able to buy it in March but me in Belgium I hope next Year at least [Frown]

That is suggested retail. If they have a good supply (so prices aren't driven up like the M29 after the Dirty Harry movies) I think the street price will be at $750-799. Street price is always less. We shall see

I paid $950 for my 45-70BFR, I thought it was too much, but I wanted it. If the smith is cheaper than that I can see one materializing in my safe. I may wait a couple of months to see what the initial reports are though.

I imagine the pistol was made to compete directly with magnums bfr, lets see if the quality and accuracy matches it.
large caliber pistols are not deals at $1000,but they certainly appeal to the shooter wanting something different than your every day range pistol. If you consider the lifetime and fun factor of a big bore pistol,I dont see anything wrong with splurging on a $1000 pistol, especially since you will spend much more in a year or two on ammo!

According to RSR's website, the dealer price for the basic S&W 500 will be $673. The BFR will be about $100 more.
