Need opinions on grips. I've tried a Hogue "rubber" grip with the finger grooves and, while i like them better than the factory wood, they are still not quite what i was hoping for. Anyone make a grip that is a little larger(not much) and somehat "softer?" Thanks!

I like the Houge Monogrip. It really works well for me.

I used to shoot some extremly hot loads from my old SuperBH and found the best grips(IMO) to be the Pachmeyer Signature. I still use them on my 45 Blackhawk. They are fairly inexpensive too. derF

The advantage I have found with the Pachmayr grips is that they cover the backstrap of the revolver with rubber, which helps absorb some of the recoil. I think the Hogue grips leave the backstrap open.

I have just always used the stock grips on my Super Black Hawk but i shoot with a leather glove and just let the gun rock in my hand.. I have fairly small hands as well..

I have been using the Pachmayr Deacelerator grips on a bunch of guns. They have softer Rubber than even the standard. With the finger grips you can get that feel or if you don't like them that is why belt sanders were created (learned that from Ross Seyfried article).

I have used this grip on my 44 magnum for years and years (I got on of the first from the company direct. I waited a long time for the back order) It has held up well. I just got another for my 480 SRH. It is longer than the factory grip. Real nice. Take a look at them

I tried Pachmayrs on my SuperBlackhawk. I didn't like them because they didn't slip through my hand and allow the gun to pivot upward. My wrist took more of a beating.
I'm with the other reply that suggested you let the gun pivot upward and release some of its recoil energy that way.
Middle age made me add a scope to my .44M. The extra weight really damped the recoil!
