I have hunted most big game in NA and have become bored with deer, elk and the like.
I now prefer to hunt hogs and coyotes. When I can use my dogs I hunt hogs and the rest of the time I call coyotes. To me it seems to be more of a challenge than the others.
How do the rest of ya'll think?

I too love hunting hogs (and chipmunks! Eeker) -- I find it more challenging than deer as they can scent you from way far away.........

While a number of these were taken with rifles, I pursue them a good bit with handguns. Here are a couple of my "favorites" that I was able to take the first few days of July.

Here are a couple from a few years back. I actually had walking pneumonia when I took these 2, but it couldn't keep me from hunting. Big Grin (I did need help field dressing them, though.)

Of course, the critters below rank pretty high on my list as well:

I also enjoy the many exotics here in Texas:

And of course, there's the deer...

OK, OK...I confess...I don't have a single favorite. I enjoy hunting them ALL.

Well of big game. Mule deer in open country. Much more of a challange than in the trees.

But my all time favorite. Wistle Pigs!!!!! Also known as Richardson ground Squirals, or gophers.

I know this isn't the fishing forum, but I like snapper. I know they're not all that big, but I have mounted a few.

For me it is elk, without question. I have hunted Africa as well as most of the game in the States including the "stuff" in Texas, mule deer in California, Wyoming and Colorado, blacktail in California and they do not compare. Black bear in Alberta, no comparison... My elk hunting has been in Colorado on public land with a buddy on our own, very successful and simply the best. A few weeks ago I was able to hunt elk, moose in the rut in BC and, again, the elk experience was IT without question

Anything I don't have to butcher! Just the thought of it makes me tired. Plucking birds is the worst but I can skin them. Squirrels suck.
Many times I have hung my bow and just watched the deer. I HATE the work anymore.

I like to see and hunt big Whitetail deer. I am also a fan of Black bear hunting. Moose is one animal I would love to hunt as well.

Lessee...hunting?

I'm in SoCal, so consider this biased a bit because we really don't have much game. So...

Upland Game. Quail and Chukar. Love 'dem birds! Lots of wonderful walking about in the mountains and clean air.

As to deer? I hunt them in Texas from a blind - just no point in trying to hunt deer in SoCal...

Regards,

Robert

Mule deer tops my list, elk get to be quite a bit of work.

Coyotes then rabbits top my varmint list.

Quail tops my bird list.

I could work through those hunts one after the other for the rest of my life and not complain. dvnv
