| Good luck! Are you hunting close to Evansville? Ever been over the river to Shawneetown? |

| King 460, I'm in the county south of Pike, send me a PM if you want any more details. Pike is the largest deer producing county in Illinois, so the odds are in your favor there.
for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

We hunted just north of Casey and east of Rt.49 (Shiver farm). My son got an 11 pointer on Sunday, and a nice doe on Saturday. He grunted the buck to within about 15 yards of his stand!! I couldn't believe it! His father, on the other hand, had a shot at a nice buck on Saturday and shot low and just plain missed it. Not sure if I'll be able to make the second season but no matter, thanks to the kid we have venison in the freezer. Met a couple guys from Florida who took, what I thought was, an average buck (6 pointer I think) and they were ecstatic. They said compared to the deer they see in Florida, ours were monsters. Never thought about that before, makes one appreciate what we have here. Best of luck on your smoke pole hunt. There are a lot of deer still out there (including the one I missed ) |
