I found this 475/480BFR on gunbrokers take a look if you please and tell me if would it be worth getting or avoiding all together. http://www.gunbroker.com/Aucti....aspx?Item=278838762 ''People should say what they mean and mean what they say. Yeah, if it can be had cheap, nothing really wrong with it that can't be addressed as far as I can see. Also make a great foundation for a custom. "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." Why is the gun apart? What did the guy screw up? There is one problem with the grip frame. The front screw is too short and the screw can strip. It has not harmed the frame and a new, longer screw will fix it. Maybe he took it apart and can not get it together, he might have screwed the spring for the hand. The base gun should be fine and parts are cheap if needed.

Looks like a deal to me. I'd be tempted if I didn't already have a 475 and all of my mad money is going into the new shop. I wonder what the issue is with the front sight? Did the threads get cross threaded, or a broken off screw in it? I'd like to see a closeup of the trigger gaurd to see how the repair was done. I think you could get a new grip frame from MR if it's messed up. Looks like a great deal for the price. You could always box up all the parts and send it back to MR and get a 500JRH made from it. I think it's $190 for the cylinder and $150 for a new barrel.

I would be more concerned with why the trigger guard cracked. House fire maybe? What other possible reason would there be for it cracking? If the crack "just happened" then I would bet BFR would warrant it.

I wonder what did crack the trigger guard too. One pic seems to show some discoloration around the frame where the barrel screws in maybe its the pic maybe not. Im gonna keep an eye on this auction anyway. ''People should say what they mean and mean what they say. Life is too short to be lead down the wrong path.''

I just read about the crack that was welded. Loose screws! Never seen a grip frame crack but have seen screws shear. I can not imagine any condition where the frame would crack except some goof doing it.

Maybe he was trying to do a custom trigger gaurd and grip frame, started on it and then realized he was in over his head?? <-- Bubba +1 lol If nothing else I bet you could get a new grip frame from Magnum Reaserch.
