Is the gun 100% safe to carry with 5 in it?

Are the accurate?

How do they handle heavy bullets?

Anyone have any customer service issues, from what I have read here; Customer service with Freedom Arms can be problematic?

Any galling from all that stainless steel?

Am I better off buying a custom Ruger or one of Rex's guns?

Really liking the 475 Linbaugh model, and I wouldn't mind having a 30-30 and 375 Winchester.

For the price point, they have no equals. They are quite a bit cheaper than a good custom, and one in .475 can be found for around $800.00 new. Every one that I have shot has exhibited outstanding accuracy. My BFR in .500 JRH will shoot under an inch at 50 yards all day long if I do my part. They handle heavy bullets with aplomb. The internals are all Ruger, so they feature a transfer bar system that is safe to carry loaded with five. They are overbuilt and will handle heavy loads without trouble. I have found their customer service to be very good.

Are they perfect, nope. I don't care for the grip frame (that can be remedied), or the aluminum front sight, but again, at less than $1,000.00 what do you want? Best bang-for-the-buck!

I for one, have never had a problem with customer service from Freedom Arms. In fact, it has been quite the opposite from the few malcontents who have ground axes here in the past.

BFR revolvers have never caught on very well down here in Mississippi. I have shot several and as Whitworth said, they are a good bang for the buck.

Custom revolvers are a horse of a different color, but they are fun to own and you can get most anything you want within reason. As with any other maker, you would be well served to try revolvers by the different companies and pistolsmiths to find what you like best.

If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. We know who you are, so no reason to point yourselves out.

I was lucky enough to fall into the run of 475's that CDNN had a couple of years ago for $500. I bought it from a guy that bought from CDNN and also bought a Huntington grip frame and grips as well. He never shot the gun or fit the gf. I bought the whole package with 5 boxes of factory ammo for $750 and sold the factory grip frame. I had Alan Harton chop the barrel to 5 1/2", fit a barrel band and Weigand sight, slim the grips and work the trigger and install an OT stop. I installed the Bowen rear sight. I have only been able to take it out three times and it is a one holer at 25 yards, literally. I have not tried it at 50 yards but I am sure, particulary with some kind of optic, it would also be a 1" gun. Next trip home I will take it to a buddy's ranch in hope of a pig. I shoot the MBW 400 gr WLN at 1100 fps though I have waiting home a pile of 370 HP's from a friend of many in Idaho. Bottom line for a grand they are a bargain IMO.

they're a good value. not sure about any problems with FA's customer service. they've been top notch with me. i've only needed them 2x and have 7 guns from them. we have 3 bfr's. both very accurate. they handle nicely. i've had 4 total bfr's, 2 custom shop, 2 regular production runs. i hate the grip frames. my son likes them. the triggers are horrible from the factory on the ones we have, the performance center guns are on par with the FA guns i've had without the trigger job. my FA that have had the trigger job are great and significantly better than the bfr custom shops imho. that said, they have a longer cylinder so you can shoot any sized bullet ya want out of them with a little more room for error from bullet pull under recoil.

I'll throw mine in here too. It is a 475 that Clements cut to 4 5/8 for me and installed the Weigand Combat sight. I also had a set of Holly grips made for it. It shoots better than any revolver I have ever shot, bar none. With that said, I still don't like it as much as I should. Stainless thing...

Safe with 5: Yes
Accurate: In my experience, stunningly
Service: Freedom arms, nary a problem. Quick and friendly. BFR, haven't needed one yet, so I don't know
Galling: NO
Value: The BFR is a good value. In general terms, they are more than the Ruger (about twice), half of a Freedom Arms, and less than half a Custom.
You have to determine, based on your tastes and wallet, where you find the best value for the dollar.
As far as the 475 chambering, it's about the best bang for your buck, unless you find a gently used Freedom or Custom that someone just has to sell for peanuts.
