I thought about doing something like that a few years ago on my Ruger 357 max. I have a 45 ruger barrel already. I looked at 307 win and 444 brass, but the case walls were too thick without reaming. I was going to have Phillips and Rogers make the cylinder, but I guess they are out of bussiness now??

Lee martin I wish Dan Wesson would pull their heads out of their butts but they Dan Wesson doesn't seem to be interested in there revolver line since the popularity of their semi autos. I love my New model Dan Wesson 445 supermag and would of loved to have them make a 500 but I don't think so. They were going to make the 460 supermag that would beat the 454 but they decided against it. They had reloads of 300 gr xtp at over 1900 fps. Yes with 10 inch barrel but that is still smoking. I hope you are right about Dan Wesson but I am not holding my breath. I am going to have to buy a S&W since dan wesson won't build the 500 for me. Brian

I actually got to see one of the new .460 S&W rounds at one of the local gunshops. It's a straight wall 45 cal the same length as the .500 S&W Mag. It looks like a real handfull, but I would love to have one when the come out.

I was hunting whitetails in the Texas Hill Country last week, where I met Tom Kelly, who runs The S&W Performance Center. He tells me that this is a new straight wall case for the X Frame(.500)guns.The only spec.he quoted was a 200 gr. bullet at 2350 f.p.s.Guns will also accept .454 Casull and .45 Colt, for lighter loads. I'm guessing that the 260 and 300 grain bullets would run on each side of 2000 f.p.s. Same case length as .500 S&W.Intro at the SHOT Show.

I've heard that it'll be straight walled as well, but 1.790" in length. Supposedly, it'll do 2,350 fps with a 260 grain bullet. Lee Martin www.singleactions.com
