Managed to kill two hogs in North Carolina (www.hogheavenoutfitters.com) in a 24 hour period and blooded two revolvers in the process. This first one (a sow) I hammered with my .500 Maximum at 2:00 in the morning. The shot was 25 yards, and the pig didn't go anywhere.

Hog number two was shot that evening around 10:00 pm with my new Ruger Bisley in .45 Colt. He also dropped at the shot.

It was a good weekend......

Hey Whit, don't you know you're suppose to be sleeping at 2am! Nice job on the hogs. A guy could spend the rest of his life with a good 45 Colt & be happy. Whats the shoulder rig, Safariland, Idaho Leather, Lawrence?

Haha! Dick, if you don't hunt 'em at night where I hunt, you don't get to shoot at 'em! Thank you! The shoulder rig is by Wild Guns Leather Company of Texas amd is a Dirty Harry style holster. It's really nicely made and comfortable.

Thank you much, cottonstalk, it was good seeing you!

Good going, Whitworth, what was your load in the Bisley?

I have the same revolver, and mine likes Matt's 315 gr over 18 grains of 4100 and WLPs.

I was using a Grizzly Cartridge factory load -- a 335 grain WFN that recently clocked 1,350 fps out of another revolver we chronographed a while back. I expect to have lost a bit with the 5 1/2-inch barrel but would still say they are probably running around 1,300 fps. It's a hammer!
