1911 +P Hunting Load?
I loaded up some book max loads in 45acp for hunting and they are grouping great and my 1911 colt seems to love them ...but ....how long can i shoot this 45acp+p max loads before i need to change the spring to a stiffer one or is it a case of if it ain't broke don't fix it?Am i worrying over nothing or do i need to alter the colt before i tear something up?
she ran 50 XTP's fasssst in a row without any hiccups...but the grip screws got loose... rotflmo

Can't have much to say unless we know what you're loading. As much info as possible would be helpful.

velocity is like a new car, always losing value.
BC is like diamonds, holding value forever.

A good rule of thumb is to change the recoil spring every 2000 rounds or so with full power loads.

Maybe more with "hot" loads.

What lb spring are you running?
I use an 18 or 18.5lb spring with normal factory type loads.
I use a 20lb spring in a Commander.

Once upon a time, when I was loading the 45ACP "hot" I used 24lb recoil springs.

An extra power hammer spring is a good idea when using hot loads as well, as it keeps the slide closed a little longer.
