This year it will be two .41s. I will take the Wiegand tuned Model 57 with the 8 3/8" barrel topped with the Tasco 2-4x20 that has performed flawlessly for 8 years and the 657 Hunter from the performance shop. The Wiegand will be loaded with 20.2 grains of H110 behind the 210 XTP and the 657 will have 20 grains of H110 behind the 220 grain Montana WFN-GC. If they shoot better, I may use the Montana 220 without the gas check. I have some of each.

I have two deer already, muzzle loader and bow. Been out 4 times, few hours each.
I have to start gun season with the BFR 45-70 so I can see what a softer hollow point does.
The wife has two compressed disks and severe pain in her left leg. I need to feed all the animals, do all the yard work, run her to doctors and do all the shopping. Then the medications made her sick and gave her headaches.
I have to shoot anything I see this year.

I am sorry to hear that your wife is not doing too well, I hope that she gets to feeling better.

I am not actually going to make it out this year for deer, between the new baby and work I don't have the time. Maybe next year...

No, I made some spec changes in mid-stream, and hope to get it by next week. I will post up a full report as soon as I get it in my hands.

I took the FA/83 out for bear used 410 gr. WFNGC
with 24.0 GRS. of H110 worked just fine put a fair black bear down with it. I will take the 45 colt bisley out for deer using 335 gr. WLNGC and 20.3 grs. of Win 296. I took a buck with this load in 2007 he dropped like a stone no need to change.

This year I'll be using a vaquero 45colt 255 hard cast 950fps. Not a hot load but all my shots will be less than 30yds in the thick stuff I hunt in.

Thanks, went back today and sat near a rub and scrape, but saw no deer. Oh well, that's why it is called hunting. I'll just be glad to start doing some killing. Freezer is about empty.

I didn't see anything this morning either. I heard a buck grunt somewhere out front in the thick, never seen him and forgot my call.
I booted a big buck and doe driving out the lane, right by the neighbors house.
Walking around and the trails are so heavy they are ruts. Scrapes everywhere and I found a spot a couple of bucks were fighting, torn up big time.
But most deer left early, I seen them crossing the road when I drove in this morning.
All I want is a nice doe anyway or even a yearling.

It rained steady all day. I put on my rain gear and went out. Seen one doe but she was far and it was dim with the rain. I held the Red dot under the edge of my rain jacket---big mistake. It fogged up and I could not see a thing. It cleared when I took it out but a lot of moisture had condensed on the glass.
Anyway the deer left. Never seen another.
Shots and deer killed the first two days is very low. I could not hunt this morning because I have to take the wife to the doctor this afternoon. It is too warm to hang one for long.
If this weather breaks it will be better.
