I just wanted to offer some feedback for those who may be considering purchasing another big boy toy. The other day I shot my S&W 329, the 4in S&W 500, and the Ruger SRH 454 casull. The Ruger easily beat them all in terms of more recoil. It also twisted in my hands adding to the discomfort. The 500 Smith didnt kick that bad but the concussion from the built in compensator would get your attention. The 329 would give a sharp snap but is easy to manage. My only negative thoughts on the 329 are the sights. It has the adjustable rear "V" with a fiber optic red front. For finding them fast in an emergency situation they are superb. But for target shooting they lack clarity. Both the Ruger and S&W 500 amazed me at the accuracy off the bench at 25 yards. Next trip out I will take my 500 with the 8in uncompensated barrel. Bullet weights fired were 240 in the 329, 300 in the casull, and 350 in the 500. None of the loads were max.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

I have shot thousands and thousands of heavy loads in every caliber except the .500. Even my BFR .475 Linebaugh is manageable with the heaviest boolits. I enjoy shooting it and have many loads through it. My worst recoil comes from the Freedom arms guns and my .45 Colt Vaquero with 335 gr LBT's. The weight of the revolver and shape of the grip is very important. Every one says the Bisley grip is best to handle recoil. I have not found this to be true because the trigger guard will bang my middle knuckle. The rubber grips will correct this by changing the shape behind the trigger guard.
As long as the trigger guard does not hit my finger, none of the guns hurt to shoot. I still remember my old model 29 with the checkered grips leaving the checkering impressions on my hand after a bunch of quick shooting. Still didn't hurt.

The absolute worst recoiling gun I ever owned was a Freedom Arms 7 1/2in 454 Casull with wood grips. I even had a friend videotape me firing it and playing the tape back in slow motion revealed the barrel came within inches of hitting the top of my head. After shooting a moose with it I sold it.

I shot a S&W 329PD Scandium Frame, Stainless Steel Barrel, Titanium Cylinder 4" 44 mag ,26 oz I think .
The grips are wood and did not fit me or help with the recoil .
Mild factory loads were bad .
Then I got the brite idea to try some of my hunting loads.
After 6 my hand was numb for several hours.
