Just got done checking the vel of my hard cast 310 gr 44 mag with a max load of H110 out of my 14 TC. I get 1240 out of my 5.5 red hawk about the same out of my 7.5 blk hawk. But 1540fps out of my contender. I just might have to try and kill a hog with that should blow right through one.

I have to get my brother to check the vel out of his 20 inch carbine.

I have often read that you should get 250 to 300 fps gains from a contender or encore due to the lack of a barrel/cylinder gap. What you posted here is proof enough for me.

The extra barrel lenght does not hurt the vel.

Sounds about right. I had a 310 gr cast loaded up over as I recall 22 gr H-110, from my 4 5/8" sbh it clocked ~1200 fps, from my buddies 7 1/2" sbh ~1300 fps, and from his 10" contender ~1400 fps. Add another 30fps/in, and a 14" tube would be doing over 1500 fps. You should be right around 1700 fps from the 20" tube.

The real screamer was my 10" contender 357 maximum, loaded to maximum w/ 200 gr cast it was over 1900 fps clap

I'm getting a little over 1300 with 22gr h110 and my 330 gr wfn's from my 5&1/2 sbh.

NOW YOU GOT ME WANTING TO CLOCK THE SAME LOADS FROM MY TWO 7$1/2 .44'S

The interesting thing here will be to see what I can get out of my 10" contender with the same loads. I guess I need to do that before this thread dies so I can report back.

That turns your 10 inch 44 mag TC into my 445 supermag. FOr my 445 supermag with 8 inch barrel I get a 300 gr CP at upper 1500 FPS and the 330 Gr Beartooths right about 1500 FPS. Its probably much better shooting the 44 mag in a TC then a 445 supermag in one.

How is your accuracy with this load?

I think you will shoot through any hog that walks with that load and it will keep on going a bit more too. Best of luck to you as the hog is introuble LOL

Sounds about right. A max charge of H110 under a 320 gr LBT WFN PB clocks 1375 fps from my 10 inch Contender barrel. Such a load shoots clean through impala, blesbok, and warthog. Quartering shots won't make it through a zebra if they encounter leg bones but a broadside double lung shot will. Your load will be plenty for any hog that treads the earth.

445 supermag haven't shot it for accuracy yet in the tc. Out of my redhawk it makes one ragged hole if I do my part at it best. Most of the time if me and they do around 2 inchs.

One of these days I'll shoot the tc that is scoped for group.just isn't high on my list of stuff to do.
