I am looking for a new barrel for my TC in 30 Herrett. The question is who makes the best barrel? Would it be Fox Ridge, Bullberry or some other? Thank you for your input.

After market barrels are like Fords and Chevys. Posters here and on other fourms have their preferences and tend to talk up those. I have barrels from VV, BB, Reeder, FR and stock T/C some are more impressive then the others but none are dogs, all are shooters. Don't forget to search the various gun auction sites. Might just find a deal you can't pass up.

I have no complaints on my factory T/C .30 Herrett barrel circa 1979.

There are several good custom barrel makers out there. I have had good experiences with both Virgin Valley and Bullberry. I have also had good experiences with every factory barrel that I've owned (but I don't own a lot of factory produced stuff). I like the custom route so I can get EXACTLY what I want. In addition to that, I think you will generally got a bit more velocity out of the custom barrels (assuming that they are high quality match type blanks) because they will be smoother with a land/groove design that will not hinder velocity. I'm sure that you're cheapest route will be to find an used factory barrel. If that fits your needs then by all means check out Ed's TC's (www.edstc.com)...better yet give him a call to get his latest stock.
