I was given 1000 .451 200gr HP Rainier plated bullets and would like to load them with Bullseye...does anyone have any experience reloading this combo? Can I use 200 gr lead data? Will 5.0 gr of Bullseye be a good plinking load that will cycle well in a 4" 24/7?

According to my copy of the Lyman Cast Bullet loading manual, 5.0 grains of Bullseye is a max. charge for their #452460. I know these are plated bullets and not truly jacketed, but caution would be prudent in this case.

If you do not have reloading manuals, I strongly suggest you get several.

P.S. Just to confuse the issue, Speer lists 5.2 to 5.8 grains for their 200 grain jacketed bullet. Their cast bullet loads however, fall within the Lyman data. Speer lists 4.5 grains to be a max load for their cast bullets

Ms I'm not new to reloading I've spent a big part of my life pumping on single stage presses. Moreover I hate to think how many pounds of lead I have pounded into dirt backstops over the years.
However I am new to reloading for the 45ACP with plated bullets and Bullseye. I know the difference between jacketed and lead. I am assuming that plated bullets are still soft as lead AND I NEVER take anything I read on a forum as gospel.
With Obama in the drivers seat and his right arm henchmen I want to have as much ammo loaded and componets bought now as possible...the componets are high priced now just wait another 6 months to a year!
Thanks for your advice. I was more or less seeking imput from someone whom may have loaded the plated HP before.
BTW Alliant lists 4.6 as their max with Bullseye.
