Pecos, they say some guns just don't shoot well for some people. My first Ruger SA was a Blackhawk in 357, and I couldn't hit a damn thing with it. Of course, I was 19 and the only other handguns I had shot before it were my dad's S&W 38 with a 2" barrel, and my 22 Mk II Standard. I eventually got a 41 Mag BH from a friend who was broke (I'm a cheapskate), and then a 44 Mag SBH from a pawnshop (I'm a miser too). To me, they both shoot fine, keep them in the black out to 75 yd. Of course, they would do better if I put some parts and a gunsmith's time into them. I have DA Smiths and a GP-100 that feel ok to me, but besides shooting well, there is something simple and basic I like about SAs. I will admit I'm not a big fan of the small BH grip frame, which is part of why my next revolver is going to be a Bisley Hunter.

Sput - It was a BH in .357 that started my woes with Ruger.

I'm thinking I might try one in .41. I've got a Smith in .41 and LOVE IT. Obviously since I only have ONE pistol in this caliber, I have a SERIOUS NEED for another.

The way I'll explain it to my wife is to call it "systems redundancy."

Good point, Swede. Thank you for that observation. I'm gimpy enough without courting more trouble.

Pecos, In the past I've two Rugers (a Vaqero .45 and a Super Single Six) with standard grips and a USFA .45. None of them felt comfortable in hand nor printed well for me at the range.

I now have a Bisley Blackhawk in .45 that is a sheer joy to shoot. Try the bisley grip. It's the best of both worlds, imo

Pecos

I'll make this easy for you.....just by it! So what if you can't hit the broad side of a barn with it, sometimes its just fun to own a gun even if it doesn't serve any practical purpose. I have a Uberti replica of a Colt SAA that is fitted with cap and ball cylinder. What's the point to it?.....NONE! But its still fun to shoot!

If in doubt, by it. If nothing else, it will look good on a shelf.
