I've had a 9.5" bbl. Ruger SRH for about 10 years now. I have never been able to find a leather holster for it, that is cheap. I had given up. Then I bought my second SRH in .454 and my interest was renewed in finding a holster for these guns. I knew not to try and find one, cause it would cost me nearly $200.00 to have one made to fit. Last night I was bored and was looking at my stainless steel 1858 Army revolver, made by Traditions, in .44 cal. Something struck me, hey, this darn thing in nearly the size of my SRH in length, and the frame isnt that much smaller, I wonder.... So, I got out the leather holster I have for it, made by Oklahoma leather, purchased at Bass Pro for $20.00. I put my SRH in it, and it was a tiny bit small. But not that small. I soaked the leather in water for about 10 minutes, reinserted the SRH, and darn if it didnt fit like it was made for the gun, it sticks out the top just like I like it to, the trigger guard is exposed, so I can draw it well, but the entire front of the frame and all but the rear 1/2" portion of the cylinder is encased in leather. The leather thong goes around the rear of the trigger to prevent accidental discharges from snagging, and is tight when snapped, it has to be stretched a little when wet to snap it. I let it dry with the gun in it, and its a thing of pure genious. I'd heard of this method of form fitting a gun to a holster, but never thought a cheap holster I already owned would be big enough to fit my SRH. The beauty of it is that my blackpowder revolver still fits in it nicely, if not better. I wanted all of you SRH owners who have been in a similar situation as me to know about this, I am so darn happy I cant tell you how nice this is. Give it a try. The specific holster I bought is on page 298 of bass pros fall 2001 hunting catalog. I also am going to paste the info as taken from Oklahoma Leather's web site. Give it a try, you wont be sorry. Oh yeah, I wear mine on my left for drawing that long barrel, I dont think you will like it on your right side for a normal draw, cross draw works well though.

This is the info. from Oklahoma Leather:
Modern Hunting Style Holster
Safety Straps help prevent firearm from falling out. Heavy duty snaps lock securely. Sewn barrel end to prevent debris from entering muzzle. Three popular sizes. Right hand draw only. Oiled brown finish.
#7059- 1858 Army .44 caliber with up to 8" barrel lengths.
