I've got a wild urge to buy a Kimber 45 ACP. Anyone have any experience with their pistols?
Thanks for your input. [Smile]

Kimbers have replaced all my .45 autopistol needs.

Best bang ofr the buck, in my opinion.

The Classic is a great buy for a basic handgun with some nice features.

The Ultra Carry is nicely concealed, especially when combined with thin stocks, screws, and bushings.

My Kimbers have all eaten their meals without fuss and exhibit accuracy that is more than adequate.

I have heard others grumble about Kimber, however, all of mine have seen extensive use without any worries. This goes for both the original pistold as well as the second series.

I would not hesitate to buy additional Kimber autopistols and recommend them highly.

Such heresy from a long time Colt fan, eh?!

Regards,

~Holmes

Holmes - Thanks for the report. May all your "jams" be on a piece of toast.

I've owned two Kimbers, and wouldn't buy anything else. My first was a Custom Royale, great gun. Beutiful finish and shot everything I put through it. After I was satisfied with that "cheap one", I bought a Stainless Covert from their custom shop. What an awesome gun! It actually shoots so well and is so pleasant to shoot, my wife kinda "took" it for her own. Guess I'll have to get me one of my own now! Good luck, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. In fact, I may go shopping tonight!!!! [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

i have got a od green slide/ black frame custom 2 it shoots better than i can hold it, i had my local smith tune up the trigger the new locks in the slide mess them up a little bit, other than that it is a machine, nothing else can beat it for the money, the slides don't wobble or nothing like that there maybe duds but i have yet to see one. the only thing bad about it is mag capacity.

Pecos45, I have the Kimber polymer 45 in stainless. I did have some problems with it jamming when I first got it. I contacted Kimber and they said no problem. Just send it in and they would take a look at it. They had it back to me in less then two weeks. If I remember right, they polished the ramp on it. Everything worked fine from that point on.

I will very seldom not buy a product because people report a few problems with it. I will however not buy a product if the reports are that the manufacturer does not correct the problems to the customers satisfaction.

Kimber was very plesent to deal with and certainly was prompt with the repair and delivery of my 45. I would buy another one without hesitation.

Bought the first Kimber .45 I saw, in 1997. Have been carrying it as a duty gun ever since. About 2500 rounds a year in practice ammo and it keeps on working just fine. Not to say that it's perfect, but mighty good for a production line handgun.

I've been shooting .45, 1911 pistols for 40 plus years. I'm now a Kimber fan. The one I have is a Custom SS Target. Best trigger, by far, of any auto pistol I've shot. Actually better than 95% of the good revolver triggers I've pulled.
Shoots several loads into 4-6 MOA.
It has all the "whistles & bells" I want on a 1911 gun. E

Pecos 45,

I have a CDP Custom (Series I), very nice gun for the money. I shot 1250 rounds through it in 4.5 days shortly after I got it and had 2 FTF and 1 FTRTB. In defense of the gun, it had not been properly broken in at that time (less than 200 rounds through it).

I think Series I's are pretty hard to find now, and - depending on who you believe - the firing pin blocking safety on the Series II is either a major problem or no big deal.

Regards,

Terry

you can get a custom 2 blue for less than 600 bucks if you buy anything else cheaper or not you will almost always have to pay to have them slicked up like kimbers base model, although the finish is not the best in the world in the custom 2 but it works great for kydex, you can not go wrong with a kimber, buy a kimber shoot till its holding you back if ever then maybe get a les b or have sti build you something
