Didn't get any response to my plea for someone to post pics for me...... So..... here's a teaser. I have an impossible pic of two 45 Colt, hot loaded hardcast bullets, recovered from a medium sized whitetail doe. An impossibility according to the posters on this forum..... I guess hard lead bullets, loaded hot, zip right through Cape Buffalo....And don't even notice tender whitetail does. Well I recovered the two I put into the chest of the deer I shot. They were going quite fast,( full case of 4227 out of a Ruger Bisley). Somebody post my pics, so we can get a real dialogue going....Thanks, Grant. Oldmodel70@aol.com

Why not post them yourself? You can get free photo hosting at hunt101.com and others, then hot-link to them from your posts. George

I am surprised you recovered .45 caliber cast bullets from a whitetail. If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. We know who you are, so no reason to point yourselves out.

Define hardcast. Do you actually know the hardness of the bullets you used or are you guessing? More details are necessary to enter into some semblance of dialogue. What was the weight of said bullets? Nose profile? Do you buy them or cast them yourself? If you bought them, who did you buy them from? Seems like you posted in order to indict. Hardcast bullets aren't the end-all be-all, but in the limited velocity range our revolvers work in, they are hard to beat particularly with regards to penetration. I have killed a truckload of game with hardcast bullets and have yet to recover one from a whitetail. So, please do share. "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." Interesting as i dont usually recover anytbing larger than a 41 mag outta anything. Ive seen them zip thru large bovines but ive yet to see anything zip thru the shoulder bones on a large cape buff. That said this speaks to a bullet problem not a bullet type problem. Hardcast vary as much as expandables. I would find it hard to believe you would recover a garrett hardcast out of any deer.

And the OP slips away like a thief in the night...... Where did you go? Come on now, you fired off the assertions, so let's hear the story. I'm all ears! It must be slothfulness. Even I can post pics. If a dumb old logger can do it , I would think anyone could. Phil Shoemaker : "I went to a .30-06 on a fine old Mauser action. That worked successfully for a few years until a wounded, vindictive brown bear taught me that precise bullet placement is not always possible in thick alders, at spitting distances and when time is measured in split seconds. Lucky to come out of that lesson alive, I decided to look for a more suitable rifle."
