I'm looking at a KAHR P-45 belonging to a friend for under 300..Its a nice looking gun and feels great, fit nice in my waist band and I've been wanting one..
Question? is it a straight double action or first shot double followed by single shot ala my PPKS..Im a little hesitant as my arthritic hands find it real hard to work the slide, Have not shot it yet, Need to take a road to pick it up. Hesitating?

I don't own one, but my understanding is that the Kahr P45 is a striker fired double action only pistol with a consistent trigger pull from shot to shot.

Since you asked for opinions...

If you have concerns working the slide just to check the trigger, I would not get it.

The striker fired part is not a concern, but since you comment on it fitting nice in your waistband, you are talking a protection gun, not a range toy... I would not recommend to anyone getting a defensive item that they have the least bit of physical issues operating when they are on the range/at home because we all know that the time of need you will likely not be at your physical best- ie immediate stoppage drill, etc.

I bought the gun thru Durys of SAn Antonio Tx. I called them, explained I could not work the slide and had trouble loading the clip, To my surprise they said, we will send you a return box and papers and that will handle the postage, refund or full credit, your choice!! I thought I was in a time capsule back in the 1950s...They gained a full time customer and supporter.

As to the kahr its the best pistol I've ever owned for a combat gun if you can work the slide and load the clip, I cannot at my age, and apparently others have made that claim..

Option that worked on any hard slide gun I was in my shop going thru some boxes and found a pair of V shaped spring-operated hand exercisers, what the hell give them a try, I worked them two or three times a day for about a month and bingo I can work any slide and load the clip and I still work the exercisers most every day. Try it curmudgeons and now Im working out at the club see if I can get the rest of my body working???

I gave the Kahr to my grandson, then fixed the slide and clip problem with exercise, I do a lot of things backwards these days. rotflmo

I still have my 1911 38 Super and 9mm Glock and Springfield 35 High Power. I seldom shoot my pistols any more..

Since I posted above I bought a PM9. I could not be happier. It’s a great carry piece.
