Freedom Arms has a few choices in scope mounts, any one who owns a FA have any preference either way?

I kind of like the looks of the TSOB mount, kind of anyway.

How are the mounts attached? Machined lugs? Screws? elk spit?

It's going to be on a 41 Magnum. My retirement gift to myself.

Plan is M83 Premier, octagonal barrel, express sights, 6 inch barrel, TSOB mounts, and a Burris 2-7.

I am most happy with the performance of the Leupold mounting system. It attaches by use of the holes for the rear sight.

FA scope mounts attach with 3 screws, and utilize a lug which fits into the recess machined into the FA topstrap. I prefer the T'SOB or a similar one manufactured by custom pistolsmith Gordon Logan, and use 3 or 4 rings, depending upon the caliber. Three is certainly quite sufficient for a .41 Mag.

I've used the T'SOB, the Leupold and the Lovell on my Model 83 41 mag and settled on the Lovell mostly for cleaness of looks. I even had a Ruger Maximum made into a 414 and had Alan Harton replicate the FA topstrap so I could use the FA Lovell mount on it as well.
