I have an RB in .44 with an 8 3/8" barrel and 2x Leupold. I bought the Mil-Tech scoped bandolier holster Cabela's has in their catalog, #CD-22-1967 in black or CD-22-3323 in Mossy Oak. Either one is $30. See the 2003 spring master catalog page 374. I sewed the holster at the front of the trigger guard so the pistol doesn't go quite as far inside. This keeps the muzzle from sticking out the bottom. I also sewed a cover over the muzzle end of the holster using 2" nylon strapping. This holster is easily reversed for either right or left handed use (I'm a leftie). Forget the top flap, I got one and it's marginal, you could probably fix something up. In a pinch it works ok. I hunted this year for the first time with a pistol and don't know if I'll ever carry a long gun in the woods again! Goor luck in Africa.

What bullet are you planning on useing for what game? I've been testing a bunch of different designs from www.mountainmolds.com. In my 6.5" Taurus 454. The best so far is an ogival flatpoint with 70% nose that I've shot into 1.4" at 50yds. We tried some with 80% and 90% nose as well as trunicated cone and modern and Keith SWC's all in the 330-340gn area. Plain base and gaschecked also. They all seemed to shoot well except for the Keith style SWC. We haven't tried the whole velocity range of each bullet yet. A loose scope mount on the last outing ruined any results. The 90% nose looks like it will be a real shooter with the right velocity range. It probably won't be the most areodynamic, but that huge flatpoint should hit really hard. After we're done testing, I'm sure Dan will post the results on his website. I could send you some to look at if your interested.
I haven't found a holster that I really like with the scope on.
More Powder, Bigger Bullets.
