A friend of mine, whose mother-in-law was friends with Elmer & Lorraine Keith, got this from his mother-in-law.
She found it in some papers that Lorraine gave her after Elmer died.
It is written on stationary from the
Herndon Hotel and Courts - The Salmon River Inn Charles Herndon, Proprietor Phone 2213 ---- Salmon, Idaho.
The author is unknown, may be initials JF

Psalm of Keith Disciples

Elmer Keith is my master,
I shall not flinch.
He leadeth me to larger calibers.
He suggesteth hotter hand-loads.
Yea,though I load with 2400, I fear not failure,
for my S&W is with me.
Recessed chambers comfort me.
I hunt chipmunks with my .458;
Verily, I slay cans with my .44 Magnum.
Yea, though I implore Lyman to design a heavier bullet,
I shall not be satisfied.
Surely someone will bring forth a hotter magnum;
Then shall my heart be gladdened.
And powder smoke shall surround me all the days of my life.

Though you guys might enjoy this..
Have a great day.

John

Thanks for posting that. I hadn't seen that in over 40 years. I'm a second generation Keith trainee. The guy who taught me learned from Elmer and he had that above his reloading bench. Must be why I love my .460 and .500 so much. LOL That's pure Elmer there. Thanx for the memory.

I was able to visit him in Salmon a number of times. One Wednesday I drove over and he had a crate in the living room. He showed me 240+/- copies of "Safari" that had come from Safari Press. Needless to say, three signed copies went home with me. Each of my brothers got one, and I have the other.
Cabela's recreated his office/shop as a diorama in their Boise store.

He was quite a man...

"recessed chambers" of no importance unless you found some very old balloon head cases.
My copy of "Sixguns" is well worn as there is a wealth of info there.When my buddies and I started out with our 44 mags we did a lot of experiments and often concluded -'Elmer was right again '!! thumb
